We did all this in 2014?

Allsortz Open Mic has been going for just over three years now and what an amazing journey it’s been.

This year has been our favourite so far. We’ve become a Community Interest Company solidifying our commitment to provide young performers with a supportive and professional platform to share their talents. We’ve also pitched up at some pretty amazing venues this year including, Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, Southbank Centre and Portcullis House. Here are some of the pictures that sum up our great year! A massive thanks to all the performers, venues, live audiences, social media followers and volunteers that have really made this year for us! A few more weeks and we start again in 2015! Be sure to join us!

February was the month of love and cheese, and we welcomed it with open arms

In March we celebrated International Women’s Day with an all female lineup of performers and a discussion produced by the Youth Media Agency about Women in the Media

In between shows our founder decided to turn his hand to a bit of design work and came up with these beauties – obviously they’re limited editions! Lol

Allsortz 2014 Another month and another great show. King Kash tore up the stage at Rich Mix with his unique mix of hip-hop and rock.

Allsortz 2014  Fast forward to July and we took Allsortz Open Mic artists to the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park as park of the Great British Carnival. We provided an eclectic mix of 100 performers across three stages sharing their talents with over 50 thousand people! We were massively supported by the Mayor of London’s Peer Outreach Team and formed Carnival Xtra.

Allsortz 2014 A quick stop off at Dalston Roof Park for a summer collaboration with Lyrix Organix!

November was a BUSY month, but we still managed to squeeze in Izara B’s very first EP launch night!

Allsortz 2014 And finally it’s December! Christmas Showcase time featuring some of this year’s best performers! We honestly couldn’t do it without you! See you all again on January 18th 2015.

Allsortz Open Mic 14 April ’14

Written by Izara B

We were back on the Rich Mix stage once again to get rid of those Monday blues with some of the freshest talent out there at the moment! Remember Videos from the night can be found here

We kick started the night with a fashion show by Ireland Nigeria who shared their latest collection with the audience followed by a performance from Team Infamous. If you would like to find out more get following @IrelandNigeria.

With a handful of talent to get through, kicking off April’s edition of #AllsortzOpenMic was Sam Way who had no problem getting a bit of audience participation whilst doing the matrix. We also had Ash Future joined by Jay Difference share their unique hip-hop style.

The night wouldn’t have been complete without ‘the battle of the bands’. First up we had the pleasure of welcoming Damien Ike on stage who gave us a visual treat all whilst sitting in the dark…YEP! The energy of all the band members took the night by storm with a great amount of energy pouring out from the stage.

Our nights wouldn’t be the same without the amazing talent from WildCards. This month we had Ronoc take to the stage with his acoustic guitar; we also had Xana share her spoken word in front of a live audience for the very first time as well as welcoming one of the Ireland Nigeria models who showed us she can also sing and play guitar.

Stand out WildCard performance of the night was by Sylvia Mwenze. Strapped with her acoustic guitar she took us all on an emotional journey with her soft tone and heartfelt lyrics. Definitely an act to look out for.

Last but not least, bringing ‘the battle of the bands’ to an end, Cielo were back! Having not performed for a while they were reunited up on the #AllsortzOpenMic stage. Needless to say they put on such an energetic performance that was so contagious, the audience had no other option but to get up on their feet and start dancing.
