Utilising our years of experience in the Music Industry and making the most of our partners and connections, Allsortz Open Mic ran a variety of Music Industry Masterclasses to support emerging artists develop their performance skills.

TAKE NOTE

Generator are working with partners, Allsortz Open Mic, Rich Mix Cultural Foundation, Brighter Sound, More Music, The Garage, Bristol Plays Music & SoundStorm to deliver ‘Take Note’, a programme which will help provide an industry road-map for young people who have an interest in developing musical skills alongside the critical industry ‘know-how’. Through a series of free workshops, partners will develop the creative skills of young people while Generator will bring their industry expertise and contacts through a series of masterclasses looking at subjects ranging from ‘Developing online fanbases’ to ‘Engaging with promoters and agents.

‘Take Note’ will plot out music industry progression routes that connects the partners, practitioners and young people they work with to the wider music industry, showing how it is a multi-faceted business – not just a environment of ‘stars’ and passing fads, but a place where all different types of talents are welcome and usable.

Developing your PR Strategy & Artist CV Clinic
Tuesday 4th August 11am-1pm

Whether you’re still looking for your perfect Social Media Handle or you’re just about to launch your EP, creating a strong PR strategy is key to getting your talent noticed! Our industry expert, Amy Walshe will also be on hand to check through your CVs and give you tips on how to stand out from the crowd.

Amy Walshe
Having spent over a decade working with musicians, Amy has experience in online, national press and radio plugging. Her bands have been featured in a range of publications including NME, The Guardian, Rock Sound, Total Guitar, Artrocker and Blues & Soul magazine. Her artists have been played on 6 Music, Radio 2 and regional stations up and down the country.  She has worked as PR consultant with record label ‘Denizen’ who were named as Radio 1’s ‘Label of Love’ following her promotional campaign. She spent two years writing a monthly column called ‘Industry Insider’ written for national music publication ‘London Tourdates’ and spent three years as Editor of ‘In-Sync’ magazine, a magazine for music students across the UK.

Music Production Masterclass 
Tuesday 4th August 1 – 3pm

Take Note are pleased to announce special guests The HeavyTrackerz for a music production masterclass, the session will be guided by Luke Hopper and gives producers the opportunity to learn about techniques, views and influences of experienced producers as they demonstrate to attendees how they build, mix and record tracks while describing their industry pathways. This masterclass is essential for young producers looking to gain an insight into music production or develop their existing skills.

Introduction to the Music Industry Masterclass
Wednesday 5th August 11 – 1pm

This masterclass is a must attend session for young artists taking their first steps into the industry, expert speakers will guide them through the ‘music map’ so they can understand the basics of rights management and collecting royalties, the publishing and recording industry, artist management, distribution and marketing. Live Performance Masterclass

Bring your act to our big stage at Rich Mix and perform alongside Mila Falls and her live band. Join us for a morning and afternoon of networking with fellow artists, producers and music industry professionals. Also there’s a *opportunity to share what you’ve learnt during the week by performing live on our stage at Rich Mix!
